Notes from our first training with the 18th.

Missile Defense 101:

Good Defense starts with good sorting

Sorting provides us a few key things:

Aspect

Enemy Aircraft Missile Type = Wez and threats

Altitude + Speed

Sort radar contacts vs RWR Signature

Missile Defense Concepts

Short Skate + Recommit

Short Skate + Cold

Long Skate + recommit

Long Skate + cold

Crank + Any the above combo

Notch + recommit (BANZAI!!)

Notch + cold

Weave + recommit

Weave + cold

Terrain

Counter measures?

ECM?

All Fox 3 missiles go Pitbull with-in 7.5 miles of bandit, no later!

Bandits Altitude + 0.9Mach = Missile Maximum range (Rmax)

He who shoots first, recommits last

Chaff is worthless (dice roll), flares are good!

Best to use Chaff when entering the notch/beam. Most other times are worthless

Split S is quickest way to enter notch/beam if altitude permits

Beam= 90 to radar source but no ground clutter

Notch= 90 to radar source but with ground clutter

If missile is shot outside of MEZ you can turn and pitch into missile to defeat it

If missile is shot inside or close to MEZ you can turn away and pitch to defeat it

rmax= max range

Ropt= The mid range between NEZ and RMAX
